MERMC (MonsoonSIM Enterprise Resource Management Competition) is an annual inter-varsity competition hosted by MonsoonSIM and its partners. This yearly event dynamically involves students and educators with the objective of exposing students to the concept of ERM through fun and exciting simulation games.
Over the month of November, the MERMC 2021 Grand Finals took place, where over 35 finalist teams of remarkable MonsoonSIM players (which were made up of the top 3-4 winning teams from each participating country or region) battled with one another in this international arena.
Emerging victorious were 8 teams, namely MYS – Met a Five from University Sains Malaysia, MYS – Sharkss from University Teknologi Malaysia, MYS – DreamChaser123 from University Teknologi Malaysia, INA – BUMBLEBEE from Universitas Internasional Semen Indonesia, MYS – FightingKangaroo from University Sains Malaysia, INA – SIMP from Petra Surabaya, INA – MUZZAFAR ZAYN from Universitas Islam Indonesia, and INA – JAKAL ATAS from Universitas Islam Indonesia. These 8 remarkable teams proceeded to compete with one another in the Grand Finals.
The MERMC 2021 Closing Ceremony, which took place on Saturday, the 4th of December, welcomed esteemed guests, competition participants and teams, educators, facilitators, coaches and MonsoonSIM enthusiasts.
After an encouraging welcoming speech from the Head of MERMC, Mr. Didi, a very exciting sneak peek into MonsoonSIM version 10 was presented by MonsoonSIM’s Founder and CEO, Mr. Abdy Taminsyah.
The additional updated features of this version 10 included a fast learners’ registration URL (which substantially cuts down the registration time), the ability to preschedule configuration changes as well as “coffee breaks” in the roadmap, the new and more convenient location of the chat boxes, the new learner flexible interface (making available the option of the traditional interface or the side-by-side interface), a new transaction status of “in-progress”, a new micro-chart with live updates, new technologies and many more features!
The brilliant judges of the MERMC 2021—Dr. Scott Dell, an accounting professor at Francis Marion University, Florence, South Carolina, and Mr. Eric Christian Soeseno, a commercial sales manager at L’Oréal and also an MERMC 2015 and ADIRA Innocamp 2018 champion—also shared their insights of the competition and the teams’ performances, as well as motivated all the participants with inspiring words of advice.
It was then followed by the announcement of the top 3 videos from the MERMC 2021 video competition. With the dedication, time and creativity that’s apparent in each and every one of their videos, the Muzzafar Zayn team from Universitas Islam Indonesia, Barakka team from FEB Universitas Hasanuddin, and BERO team from Dhurakij Pundit University had successfully and well-deservedly claimed the top 3 spots!
Next was the long-awaited announcement of the MERMC 2021 World Champion and Runner Ups. Based on comparison of each team’s performance in the 8 KPIs—Late Shipment B2B, Cash on Hand, Day Sales in Inventory, Space Utilization, Market Shares in Sales and All, Operating Ratio, Retail Stockout, and Services—along with the results after adding Net Profit and Gross Profit, the decision was made.
MonsoonSIM congratulates Met a Five team from University Sains Malaysia (USM), which consists of the members Chan Kai Yin, Vincent Alexander R, Ong Hooi Kee, Lim Hui Ting and Puah Yin Chie, and also their coach Nik Mohamad Syazne Nik Ezanee, as the 2nd Runner Up of MERMC 2021!
MonsoonSIM also congratulates Muzzafar Zayn team from Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), which consists of the members Nicho Kurniawan S, Farhan Kamil R, Valdo Maggri A, Agnes Aura A and Imerina Zuhara, and also their coach Muhammad Fadhly Rizky Octavio, as the 1st Runner Up of MERMC 2021!
Last but certainly not least, MonsoonSIM proudly congratulates BUMBLEBEE team from Universitas Internasional Semen Indonesia (UISI), which consists of the members Hariza Rahmah, Maya Elvina P, Nafsya Rafsanjani, Nugraheni Tahirawati and Sofia Namira Firdaus, as well as their coach Muhammad Akbar, as the World Champion of this year’s MERMC 2021!
The final activity of the closing ceremony featured a fun Lucky Draw, which was won by Teerapat Pathomkalbutr. Our lucky winner had certainly left the ceremony not just with good memories, new friends and smiles, but also with the lucky draw prize.
Acting as a multipurpose platform for students, educators and industry practitioners, the MERMC 2021 allowed students from various universities, schools and educational institutions worldwide to interact with one another, strengthen the ties of the MonsoonSIM community and bring about a sense of togetherness for those with similar passions and interests in MonsoonSIM.
The MERMC 2021 provided students with the opportunity to develop their talents and skills throughout the competition, by means of expressing and exercising their knowledge and strategies in business to excel.
With that said, MonsoonSIM hopes to achieve the same level of success and fun in next year’s MERMC 2022!
