MonsoonSIM Welcomes Politeknik Ungku Omar!

We are proud to announce and warmly welcome Politeknik Ungku Omar from Malaysia in joining our MonsoonSIM family!

Located on Jalan Raja Musa Mahadi, Politeknik Ungku Omar was established in 1969 by the Ministry of Education in Malaysia and UNESCO, the latter being responsible for its construction. This Malaysian Politeknik’s namesake is the late Dr. Ungku Omar bin Ungku Ahmad, with deference towards his significant contributions to the country, particularly in the field of Medical Science. 

Joining the ranks of MonsoonSIM facilitators worldwide are Ziehanie Shafiai and Md. Nazri bin Md. Nor from Politeknik Ungku Omar. Ziehanie Shafiai is a lecturer of the Business Studies Programme in the Commerce Department, teaching Trade Finance, International Business, Business Management, Statistics and Organizational Behaviour courses. Md. Nazri bin Md. Nor is the Head of Programs within the Finance and Banking Programme of the Commerce Department at Politeknik Ungku Omar, and teaches Financial Planning, Financial Market Operation, Bank Lending, Treasury Management, Business Finance and also Bank Products and Services.

With the Politeknik’s motto of “Kekuatan dan Keamanan Melalui Teknologi”, translated to “Strength and Safety Through Technology”, Politeknik Ungku Omar’s focus on technological advancements, experiential, hands-on learning and providing quality education aligns with MonsoonSIM, which advocates for learners to conduct self-directed learning via simulation and gamification, and in turn, reach a deeper understanding of business concepts. 

MonsoonSIM’s platform provides plenty of advantages for Politeknik students as it provides exposure and a clear picture about the concept of business operations. This is especially relevant and suited for enthusiastic, knowledge-seeking students taking Entrepreneurship (diploma program) and Supply Chain Management (degree program) courses. Not only is the role of financial and banking knowledge in business operations covered thoroughly, but students can also gain confidence of their entrepreneurial capabilities when practicing and applying the theories learned via the MonsoonSIM platform. Furthermore, this improves analytical thinking and communication skills amongst the students, ensuring holistic, entrepreneurial and balanced Politeknik graduates.
